Porcelain Bathtub Refinishing in Dallas TX

Dallas bathtub refinishing in the Dallas TX area since 1992.

Porcelain refers to the top surface of the bathtub. Porcelain bathtubs will have a base of either steel or cast iron. Most porcelain bathtubs made after 1985 have a steel core porcelain bathtubs.

Challenges of Refinishing Porcelain Bathtubs

Porcelain bathtub and wall tile refinishing has it's unique challenges. First keep in mind porcelain is fired in an oven at over 2000(F) so is like glass. As with any type of bathtub refinishing you absolutely can not simply paint a surface onto a porcelain bathtub and expect it to last longer than maybe 1 to 20 uses. With porcelain bathtub refinishing the first issue is having a product that will bond to porcelain. Even if it appears to bond how is it going to react to hot water? How will it hold up to cleaning? If you use Dallas bathtub refinishing services the answer to those questions will be great! The reason is because Dallas bathtub refinishing services uses 100% polyester low V.O.C (volatile organic compounds). The Polyester surface is not only low v.o.c. but it is also not going to emit v.o.c.'s after if is cured! This means it will not effect the indoor air quality moving forward. My surface is chemically welded to the porcelain bathtub surface with very high quality silane coupling agent. This chemical weld ties the new surface and the old surface together. As a porcelain bathtub is used hot water will cause condensation to form between the new surface and the old surface. This is why when a bathtub is simply painted it will peel in sheets (condensation forms under the paint and simply peels it off). This is why silane coupling agent is so important! The catalyst for silane is moisture. So as condensation forms, silane is activated and welds the new and old together even tighter. Silane is also used in the dental industry and in the aerospace industry and this makes perfect sense both industry are dealing with moisture and temperatures that cause the silane to activate.
